We’re Simon and Wendy Mackney, we are both hugely passionate about our business and understand the importance of crafting imagery through styling, photography and digital editing.

We pride ourselves on having the pleasure of working with an amazing team of professional experts in their field - they are very much part of our very own Mackney team without them we wouldn't be able to provide the outstanding portraits and service that we’re renowned for today.

Hi, I'm Simon and I believe that photography is personal, for those who've not had the pleasure of having a professional shoot. It's about creating the right environment then capturing the personality of the subject...it's expressive. I originally trained in film processing and printing and it's this knowledge that helps us to push the boundaries. Having my own children has made me realise how important it is to capture those precious moments that pass by so quickly. It seems like only yesterday that Matilda was a baby, and now she's grown into a beautiful little girl. Time really does fly! That's why I love being a photographer - I get to preserve those special moments for families to treasure forever. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as we enjoyed taking the photos!

Wendy Mackney

Hi, I'm Wendy, founder of Mackney photography. I originally trained as a fashion designer, but moved back to my hometown of Derby to start a family. I'm Mum to my amazing daughter Matilda and cheeky toddler Freddie. They are my rock and my world!

I love how photographs tell a story and how they capture a moment which you can always look back upon and treasure. Since becoming a Mum I realise more than ever, that capturing these moments is so important. Babies aren't babies for long, and once those early days are gone you can never get them back. That's why I'm so passionate about newborn and family photography. I want to help families freeze time and create cherished memories that they can look back on for years to come.

If you're looking for someone to capture your own special moments, then please get in touch. I'd love to hear from you!

Beth Radford

Hi, I’m Beth!
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I studied Photography and Digital Media at college and joined the Mackney Photography family shortly afterwards, initially assisting with weekend photoshoots and learning the craft hands-on in the studio.

I’ve been lucky enough to train and work closely with Simon Mackney, developing my skills over the years and creating my own award-winning fine art style. I love all areas of portrait photography, from families and pets to beautiful, timeless portraits, but my real passion is newborn photography. There’s something incredibly special about capturing those tiny details and first moments for a family, and I’m very proud to have had my newborn work recognised by the British Institute of Professional Photography on several occasions.

Mackney has been a huge part of my journey as a photographer, and I love being part of such a close-knit, creative team where we all genuinely care about giving our families a wonderful experience.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll usually find me dancing! I grew up surrounded by the performing arts, and that love of creativity, expression and emotion definitely finds its way into my photography too.

Zoe Green

Hi, I’m Zoe!
I’ve loved photography from a young age, so turning it into my career always felt like the natural path for me. I studied Photography throughout secondary school, was part of my school photography club, and later went on to earn my Photography degree at York St John University.

I especially love photographing families, children and pets. For me, the experience should be just as memorable as the photographs themselves, so I always aim to make sessions feel relaxed, friendly and fun, allowing everyone’s real personalities to come through.

Before joining the Mackney family, I worked as a visual merchandiser in retail, which gave me a great eye for presentation, creativity and those little details that can make all the difference. I also loved the people side of retail, something that fits perfectly with being part of a busy, friendly portrait studio.
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m happiest outdoors, usually enjoying a long walk or spending time with my friends and family.

Hi, I’m Amy!
I’ve always been a creative person and knew I wanted to build a career around something artistic. I studied Art & Design at college before going on to earn my degree in Photography & Videography at De Montfort University, turning something I’d always loved into the career I have today.

Since joining the Mackney family, I’ve loved working with such a wide variety of people. From babies and children to families and pets, no two photoshoots are ever quite the same! I’m naturally a people person and love creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable enough to simply be themselves.

Before Mackney, I worked in retail, which taught me a lot about connecting with people and making them feel welcome—something I now bring into every photoshoot.

Creativity definitely doesn’t stop when I leave the studio. I love vintage fashion, thrifting and hunting through charity shops for hidden gems, and I’m always making or creating something. Anything colourful, unusual or full of character tends to catch my eye!

"We try to grab pieces of our lives as they speed past us. Photographs freeze those pieces and help us remember how we were. We don’t know these lost people but if you look around, you’ll find someone just like them"
